Brown University Health

Brown University Health

Brown University Health recently expanded its primary care facility at 1500 Pontiac Ave. in Cranston, bringing in a team of physicians, nurses and staff from another location to occupy an unused part of the building. Consolidating the teams would allow the medical group to make more efficient use of the building, while also providing health care access to a greater number of patients in this centrally-located area. Vantage Builders was hired for the build-out and worked closely with the Brown University Health team and NEMD Architects. The Vantage team demoed the existing space and built a new, welcoming primary care location. There are 16 patient exam rooms with white noise systems to allow for better, more secure communication between patients and medical staff, a nursing station, collaborative workspace areas, and a consultation room. Key to the project was completing the work while the front half of the building remained open to medical staff and patients. Our team ensured that there was no disruption - scheduling noisy work like demo and saw cutting during off-hours, creating a new temporary entrance to allow medical staff to safely get to and from the lab, and putting up poly plastic to ensure dust and debris stayed in the construction zone. There are new MEP/FP systems throughout, including an RTU, ductwork, plumbing and sprinkler heads, all carefully designed to accommodate the new layout of the building.
