RETAIL

Image

During our 20 year history, Vantage Builders has completed many retail projects – ground-up construction of new locations, renovating existing stores to improve customers’ experience, improving storefronts to enhance sales, expanding footprints to support growth, establishing a branch of a larger chain. We have worked with small store proprietors, large retail chains and local and national banks; in standalone buildings, retail centers, interior malls and strip malls.

More so than in other markets, in retail the look and feel of the space will have a direct and immediate impact on customers and therefore sales. Design is critical in a retail project and Vantage has established relationships with industry-leading retail architects and designers. We can also assist with site selection to help enhance visibility and improve foot traffic.

Our adherence to weekly update meetings and constant communications help ensure that our projects stay on time and in budget, also of utmost importance in retail. We are adept at working within the confines of active retail locations, minimizing sales impact and ensuring safety. We fully understand the need our retail clients have to finish projects quickly, so they can increase sales and improve brand awareness.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe

Warwick, RI | 1,825 SF | Neptune Design Group

Vantage Builders was hired by Carpionato Group to do a build-out for a new retail tenant. The Vantage team completed a new Tropical Smoothie franchise location, working with Neptune Design Group and Tropical Smoothie’s design and construction team to create a welcoming, bright location for the restaurant chain’s dedicated customers. The project included significant systems work, including new electrical, HVAC, plumbing and a fire protection system. The restaurant features a kitchen area, point of sales counters, and a dining area with several tables as well as a hightop bar area with seating. Vantage installed a new, suspended ACT (acoustic ceiling tile) ceiling and new lighting. The kitchen area has epoxy flooring, while the customer area’s feature luxury vinyl tiling (LVT) floors. The two new bathrooms are ADA compliant.

Dollar General

North Attleboro, MA | 18,200 SF | PDA Incorporated

When the iconic Benny’s retail chain went out of business, the Carpionato Group purchased 29 of the 31 former stores. Carpionato hired Vantage Builders to renovate the North Attleboro location, to create a bright, welcoming retail environment. The 18,000-SF location was split into two spaces; 10,000-SF for a new Dollar General store and 8,000 for a future tenant. The first step in the project was to carefully remove and rebuild the entire façade to refresh the building’s look and allow for new branding. The interior features all new finishes that reflect current retail aesthetics and help create a positive retail experience for shoppers. A new loading dock and dumpster pad were installed and the significant systems work included new HVAC and electrical. The old parking lot was overlaid to create a safer environment and to provide a critical positive first impression of the new store.

Club Pilates

Shrewsbury, MA | 1,775 SF | Dennis Colwell

Vantage Builders completed the build-out of a new Club Pilates studio, located at 193 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, in the Lakeway Commons shopping center. In order to create the proper space, designed by Dennis Colwell Architects, Vantage Builders conducted internal demolition and installed a new demising wall to separate Club Pilates from an adjacent suite. The Pilates studio features 12 workout stations, each outfitted with specialized equipment, maple board wall panels, mirrors and springboards. Vantage installed a new suspended, ACT (acoustic ceiling tile) ceiling, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring and wood base throughout the space. Citi Trends

Springfield, MA | 25,000 SF | CBRE Architects

Vantage Builders helped clothing retailer Citi Trends open its first store in Western Mass., a 25,000-SF location in Springfield. The Vantage team met a very challenging schedule, working alongside CBRE’s project management team. The project included significant base building work, including reframing the front and the vestibule to accommodate the design of the new storefront and to better showcase Citi Trends’ goods. The installation of upgraded MEP systems required removing the entire sheetrock ceiling. Underground plumbing was installed to support a bank of restrooms at the back of the store. New HVAC distribution ensures customers’ and workers’ comfort, while new carpeting, bright 24” x 48” tiles, abundant lighting, and new finishes create a welcoming retail environment.

Upbeat Cycling

The sparkling facility features a cycling theater with 32 Stages SC3 bikes, a yoga, Pilates and TRX suspension training room, and changing facilities. The design of the studio reflects Upbeat Cycling’s philosophy of keeping fitness fun.  The changing rooms are brightly lit, with plenty of privacy. There is new paint, flooring and tiling throughout. A new HVAC system provides dedicated temperature control for different parts of the studio. The high-end renovation of this 1940s-era industrial building along with thoughtful touches like the lightly-scented air and cool after-class towels gives the studio an inviting, pleasant vibe.

Goldfish Swim School

Newton, MA | 13,000 SF | Silverman Trykowski Associates

The learn-to-swim franchise opened its doors, providing indoor swim classes and programs to children aged four months and up. The centerpiece of the school is the 30 x 70 gunite pool, with water constantly maintained at a kidfriendly 90 degrees. Parents can watch the small group lessons no more than four children per instructor in a comfortable viewing area that runs almost the whole length of the pool. The view is provided by an enormous, tempered glass panel that is a half inch thick, nine-feet high and 80-feet long. The build-out required significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC work. A powerful dehumidifying system from Seresco Technologies keeps the air dry and comfortable throughout the entire facility, despite the warm water temperature.

Middlesex Savings Bank

Walpole, MA | 3,500 SF | Margulies Perruzzi Architects

The 3,500 square-foot project is the firm's third renovation for the bank.

DICK'S Sporting Goods

Multiple Locations in New England

Vantage Builders was hired by DICK’S to renovate the footwear section of its store. A critical requirement of the project was to minimize the impact on customers’ in-store experiences during construction, to ensure sales weren’t negatively affected.  Vantage built a 160-linear-foot, full-height temporary wall during the store’s off-hours. The Vantage and DICK’S teams then worked overnight to reposition the existing footwear section to the temporary wall, so it was ready for the store’s 9:00am opening. The completed footwear section features two wall shelving units and several standalone shelving units, known as gondolas.  All told, the section displays more than 1,200 pairs of men’s, women’s and children’s sports and active wear shoes, as well as related merchandise. The entire project was completed within a tight, three-week timeframe. The updated footwear section better promotes DICK’S lifestyle brand, helps boost sales and features a more efficient layout for shoppers and store associates.
